Where to buy local face masks in Hong Kong

Updated: Aug 24, 2021

From the fancy prints to the highest protections, made in Hong Kong

We had a massive face mask frenzy back in January and it wasn’t a good moment for the city. People were queuing up for days to buy face masks and prices also sky rocketed at most shops. Some people ended up with a stock enough to last for months whereas some didn’t have even enough to last the week.

In light of this face mask shortage, multiple local brands starting popping up across the city to hopefully solve this problem. Now there are face masks available in every pharmacy and also face mask dedicated shops everywhere. It has also evolved into a fashion item with fancy prints and design applied on top of the surgical face masks.

If we are talking about the most beautiful printed Face masks, Masklab might just take first place. Masklab was founded in March 2020 in an old warehouse in San Po Kong. It transformed the space into an ISO-certified cleanroom that produces up to 100,000 face masks a day. Its beautiful and artsy prints are all printed with non-toxic, azo-free dyes certified by STC. They have surgical masks ($38 for 10 pieces) and the Korean-style respirators ($68 for 10 pieces).
